Did you know February is National Library Lovers Month? That’s right, February is not just for love-love, it’s for library love as well! We couldn’t let a thing like that pass without showing some love to a room in the house that, in this day and age, is definitely a luxury. And who doesn’t love a home library?

Whether it’s a cozy nook to store your favorite well-worn novels or an elegant chamber for show-piece manuscripts and impressive collections, if you have a library in your home, you are a Library Lover. I looked into the daltxrealestate.com archives to find some of the best homes with libraries we’ve seen lately, and I didn’t have to look far.

Here are the Top 5 Libraries To Love, and some of them are still on the market!

1. 2728 Aster Street in North Cliff

If you’re looking for homes with libraries, a 1,200-plus square-foot house in Oak Cliff might not be your first look, but you’d be missing out. This 1940’s darling is a gem in itself, having been fully updated with a preservationist’s eye.

The library has a marvelous leaning ladder. All you need is a comfy chair and your book of choice, and there’s a great day. The whole home transports you to yesteryear, but this little library nook is certainly ready to be your time machine.

2. 2301 Stadium Drive in Fort Worth

Next we travel to Fort Worth for a classic estate perched atop a hill, behind a gate, and down a long windy drive in Colonial Hills. This vintage jewel has a central library that is both elegant and cozy, with fine built-in shelving, crown molding, flagstone floors, and its own fireplace.

3. 2601 Hartwood Drive

Do you remember this absolutely amazing find in Fort Worth’s Tanglewood? Not sure how this midcentury masterpiece is still sitting on the market (it even has a price improvement since we last wrote about it), but don’t let’s get distracted wandering around, because it’s the library we’re interested in today! Original built-in bookshelves and paneling frame the spacious room, which truly feels like a time warp to the 1950s. You’d almost have to bust out a copy of On the Road or Catcher in the Rye or other novels du jour.

4. 6915 Baltimore Drive in University Park

And now for something completely different. If the other libraries in this list sweep you into the past, this one is certainly worthy of the lavish modern estate that topped the list of the Most Expensive Listings in Texas while it was on the MLS.

African mahogany lines the walls and library shelves, and that spectacular custom ceiling is just beyond. It looks like, according to original designs, the intent was to have a reading room at the front of the library, with an amethyst surround fireplace. With or without those extras, this is a room worthy of exhibiting those aforementioned collections, and definitely one that could use the eye of a luxury stager like George Bass Stage and Design to bring out the possibilities of a room this special.

5. 7707 Mason Dells in JanMar

Topping off my list of libraries to love is everyone’s fan favorite from earlier this month, the Midcentury Modern of your dreams in one of North Dallas’ most interesting neighborhoods. We hope to be hearing more about this home as the new owner makes this superb property his own. Including, but not limited to the LIBRARY, which is part of the 1970s addition that created the pool enclosure, pool bath, and wet bar. This sweet ’70s space is dying for an update, but it’s amazing and HUGE, and I, for one, cannot wait to see what it becomes.
