b75ac84e06d0a07dd63c69cb097f87adl-m21xd-w1020_h770_q80We talk a lot about the downtown Dallas skyline and the amazing views you can get from high-rise life there, but in today’s look at available rentals, we’re trekking over to downtown Fort Worth, and the Neil P.

We’ve talked about the Neil P. before — our Eric Prokesh took a look at the building’s history when he wrote about a ninth-floor unit that was for sale. The historic building had it’s beginning as the Neil P. Anderson Cotton Exchange, designed and constructed by the leading Fort Worth architectural firm Sanguinet and Staats in 1921.

Eric wrote:

Dallas’ famous Cotton Exchange was demolished in 1991. This being Fort Worth, however, this architectural gem, listed on the National Register in 1978,  was renovated and repurposed by low-key local developer Amicus Interests in 2004 as condominiums.

The Beaux Arts building, rechristened The Neil P, is more attractive in my opinion than its better-known rival down 7th Street. With units selling for about $275 per square foot, the Neil P offers urban living at a reasonable price and compares favorably with the Omni Residences, which start at about $475  per square foot.

Today’s rental, Unit 1001, is one floor above the unit Eric wrote about, and faces south. Large windows maximize your views, which are plentiful.

And although it’s a one bedroom, one bath unit with 863 square feet of space, tall ceilings and all those windows make the home feel a lot larger than it sounds on paper.

The U-shaped kitchen has been updated, as have the hardwood floors. Crank, louvered windows marry the old of a Breaux Arts building with the modern touches throughout the unit. A flexible dining space allows for several different configurations, too.

The bedroom is generously sized and includes an updated bath and a walk-in closet, and the unit also has a washer and dryer, as well as covered parking space.

This unit with its downtown Fort Worth views rents for $1,850 a month and is listed by Russell Wilkins with Wilco Realtors.
