Daltxrealestate: How did you two meet?
Rebecca Singleton: Our daughters played softball together. We ended up taking long walks every day and talking about everything.
Corey Young: We have so much in common. We both won our honeymoons and went to the same place! We are always turning up in practically the same outfits. We love to travel and have adventures. The list is endless.

CD: Corey, how long have you been in the business?
CY: I have been in real estate for almost 20 years. My dad was a Realtor. I had been in software sales before real estate, and I’ve always loved sales, people, and relationships but was not in love with technology. I knew I loved homes, and one day my husband said to make the change! It was everything I wanted it to be and has given my life an outstanding balance.

CD: Rebecca, how did Corey persuade you to get into real estate?
RS: I’ve had a long career in modeling. When I was about to turn 40 I thought I would get more serious about acting and take lessons. Then Corey said I should try real estate. Modeling had slowed down, and I thought, why not? So I went to Champions School of Real Estate and took classes.

CD: Did your modeling career play into being successful in real estate?
RS: Absolutely! In every casting, you are selling yourself, so it was an excellent basis for real estate. Initially, I thought I would get my license to buy rental properties, but Corey had other ideas! She was super successful and so busy she really needed someone full-time. I was not going to give up on modeling entirely, but when I closed four deals in a month and still modeled, Corey decided to take a chance on me. She taught me everything I really needed to know. I feel like I got a four-year education in one. It was the perfect match. I went from being a model that did real estate to a full-time Realtor that models once in a while. Real estate was the best decision for me.

CD: It’s been a crazy time in real estate, but we are at a challenging point with low inventory. How are the DFW Home Girls tackling this market?
CY: Ninety percent of our business is from referrals and past clients. Last year was great. I had my biggest sale this year. The prices we are selling for are ridiculous. It’s common to see 20 percent over list price. Hard work and connections pay off.
RS: My business has increased every year. Corey taught me to be open and frank with clients. She gave me the confidence to never beat around the bush. That has been a huge factor in our business.

CY: We also keep in mind that our job is to guide our clients. We have to provide them with the reality, which can be hard to hear, but they appreciate it. When someone wants to sell, we ask those hard questions because they see how hot the market is and what their homes are worth. But realistically, your house may be worth a lot, but where will you go? Sometimes the best advice for a client is to stay in place. You may lose a client, but honesty is always the best policy.

RS: I think a lot of our success is because we want the best for each other. We are very give and take. We don’t argue or let money come between us. The DFW Home Girls look out for each other!
