beb53813688ae5dbdbeac499ada2767cl-m0od-w1024_h768We’ve written about Forest Highlands before — the small clutch of Fox & Jacobs homes bordered by Forest Lane, Marsh Lane, and Webb Chapel Road, where some of the more affordable (for the square footage) homes in North Dallas exist.

The neighborhood full of Midcentury Ranches has been home to Dallas families since the late 1950s. Built by brothers Ike and Joe Jacobs and David G. Fox of Fox & Jacobs, the L-shaped Accent and Flair homes of the 1960s are present in several neighborhoods in North Dallas, especially along Marsh Lane.

These homes came in several variations of the same floorplan — some are around 1,500 square feet, some are closer to 1,900. Some had the option of a formal dining room or a fourth bedroom (which means your formal living room has a walk-in closet).

This particular model found at 3308 High Lark Drive is the 1,560 square foot floor plan. It’s what we like to call “Midcentury Open” when it comes to layout —not as open as modern construction nowadays, but still quite open, to the point that the home feels a lot more spacious than the square footage on paper would indicate.

High ceilings in the common areas and large windows help with that feel, and the current owners have taken pains to pick finishes and paint that make the most of that open and airy feel. A galley kitchen boasts granite countertops, a decorative tile backsplash, and a breakfast bar.

Both of the bathrooms have gotten complete updates, with new shower tile, new custom tile, and more. The master feels spacious, and you can easily see a guest or kid room and the potential for a playroom or office in the third bedroom.

High-grade laminate flooring was put in throughout the home, the windows and sliding glass doors were replaced with double-pane windows, and the roof is roughly three years old.

And this neighborhood chock-a-block full of Fox & Jacobs homes is in the Chapel Hill Preparatory School attendance zone, which is a personalized learning school in Dallas ISD, as well as Marsh Preparatory Academy (also a personalized learning school), and W.T. White High School, which has a collegiate academy that allows participating students to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associates degree.  All three schools have multiple distinctions from the Texas Education Agency as well.

And if a shorter commute is your bag, this home is close to the tollway, LBJ, and I-35. It’s also close to plenty of shopping and dining options.

The home priced at $270,000, and is listed by Guillermo Reyes with Gilchrist & Company. To see more, click here. To see other Fox & Jacobs homes we’ve written about, click here.
