Former D Magazine Dining Critic Lists Cozy Hideaway in Far North Dallas

When I first went to work in the D Magazine offices back in 2009, I knew two things about then-dining critic Nancy Nichols: She was a birder and she was camera shy (like every dining critic at the time).

In fact, I would tune into her posts on social media just to see what birds she had spotted in her Far North Dallas backyard. And now I know how she was able to get such great photos of those finches and cardinals — she has a giant picture window just off the breakfast room of her home, which just hit the market.

Nichols, who has since gone on to create a foodie travel brand, is selling her cozy Far North Dallas home, which comes with a large covered patio for all of those lazy weekends filled with novels, cocktails, and birdwatching. From what I recall, a bevy of migratory birds manages to make their way through Nichols’ yard, including beautiful cedar waxwings.

The three-bedroom, two-bath Regency Place home features well-maintained parquet floors and some updates to the spacious kitchen. Tray ceilings, wood trim, and kitschy lighting adds to the overall cozy cottage-in-the-woods vibe of this 2,096-square-foot home.

As Nichols pointed out in her Facebook post announcing the listing:

It’s private, quiet, and has a wonderful meditation fountain in the low-maintenance back yard. The landscaping is all Texas native plants and attracts a host of birds and butterflies. It’s a small nature retreat in the heart of Midtown

I don’t know about you, but that combined with the annual stop from a group of cedar waxwings just about sells it for me. If you agree, you better act fast, as Nichols says her agent is already getting calls after being on the market for less than a day.

Debbie Sherrington of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate has listed 14104 Regency Place for $375,000. Monthly HOA dues are $70.
