Do you think you have the messiest garage in Dallas-Fort Worth? Here’s your chance to prove it. Callbox Storage and Sorted Out launched a contest this month to find the messiest garage in the Metroplex. The winner not only scores storage with Callbox for an entire year, but a professional organizer from Sorted Out will also descend on what’s left behind and whip their garage into HGTV shape. This is the final week to enter so grab your phone and head to your garage.
All you have to do is snap a photo and upload it to the Callbox Storage Facebook page, along with an explanation of why your garage deserves a makeover.
Let’s face it, garages are a disaster. Try as we may, they become the catch all. I can tell you as a stager, I see a lot of garages each week and I seldom find one with an actual car inside. It’s the easiest place to store something you don’t want in the house.
“This time of year is the busiest for garages because people have shoved all the Christmas stuff in there,” Tonia Tomlin, founder and president of Sorted Out, said.
That’s on top of what’s already in there of course. It’s easy to understand how one glance into the garage, at this time of year, can have you reaching for the wine bottle. Reach for the phone instead, and snap a photo.
If you’re not familiar with Callbox, it’s the brainchild of founders Kyle Bainter and Dan Slavin. While there are plenty of storage resources out there, no one was providing on-call service. Bainter had the “Aha!” moment when preparing the nursery for his soon-to-be-born kiddo.
“We were remodeling, getting ready for the child, and we had stuff everywhere,” Bainter said. “We had it piled up in our garage. Being the nerdy accountant I am, I was taking a photo inventory. I called around trying to find a unit near me and I realized this is a hard process. You have to rent a truck, get friends and family or hire people to help. This is the last thing I want to do when we are getting a nursery ready. I want to learn how to put a car seat in the car not research storage!”
Bainter knew in our on-demand culture, service is important, but time is even more important. People never have enough time. “We thought we could create a convenient service for people that could allow them to have more time,” Bainter said.
Not surprisingly Callbox has had an overwhelming response, especially from women. Think about it, what woman wants to go to a storage unit, alone? It can be a very uncomfortable experience.Having someone deliver boxes, then pick them up, take them to storage, and redeliver them on demand is a concept that is long past due.
Get out your camera and head to your garage. You have until midnight Jan. 31 to upload your photos. The combination of services from Sorted Out and Callbox Storage is valued at $7,000.
How to Enter and Win:
