It was just over a month ago that surveyors were spotted measuring the Diplomat condominiums in Pink Wall turf. Today we see an Alpha Testing drilling rig seemingly gathering core samples to test for new foundations.
The Diplomat continues to be mum about what’s going on.

Called Geotechnical Drilling, it’s what’s done during site investigation to figure out if a site is capable of withstanding what a developer wants to build. We’re talking about soil stability and its ability to hold weight without shifting or sinking. I suppose we can infer that whatever the Diplomat is up to, it requires enough additional foundational support to require this testing.
Does this equate for a desire to double to four stories as the Preston Center Task Force plan hopes? Or because being inside Planned Development District 15, outside city zoning, that there’s something taller afoot?
I think someone needs to ply residents with egg nog.
Remember: High-rises, HOAs and renovation are my beat. But I also appreciate modern and historical architecture balanced against the YIMBY movement.
