CLIFFORD HUTSELL ARCHITECTURAL GEM IN LAKEWOODWINSOME WINNETKA HEIGHTS CRAFTSMAN WITH GUEST QUARTERSCORNER-LOT KIESTWOOD RANCH WITH GREAT UPDATES

6608-Lakewood-a

Clifford Hutsell, beloved regional architect, is known for his Lakewood and Highland Park houses. After a visit to Beverly Hills in 1929, he so fell in love with Spanish Colonial revival architecture, he brought it back with him, designing a series of homes with his own exuberant and eccentric take on the style.

One of Hutsell’s Lakewood creations hit the market two days ago and we’re thrilled to feature it in our  Daltxrealestate.com Open Houses of the Week column. Every Thursday, we bring you an insider’s take on the hot properties you can see that weekend.

This week, our houses range in price from $299K to $1,199,500. Which one is your favorite?

Open house: Sunday, April 8, 1:30-3 p.m.

Designed by beloved local architect Clifford D. Hutsell, the Lakewood house at 6608 Lakewood Blvd. is a treasure with beautiful stained-glass accentuating some of the home’s large windows and a true sense of character. This home has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, one half bath, two living areas, two dining areas, 3,576 square feet on two stories, built in 1930.

Each living room has a fireplace anchoring the space (is that Batchelder tile we spy!?) and there is a formal dining room and breakfast room with a Monday Morning tile floor. The renovated kitchen has lots of white cabinets, an island, granite countertops, a warming drawer, and stainless steel appliances, including dual ovens. The master is upstairs with a fireplace and ensuite bathroom with dual sinks, jetted tub, oversized shower, and marble floors. All of the secondary bedrooms are light and bright and one has an ensuite bath and covered balcony. The home has original hardwoods, arched doorways, patio areas in the large backyard, a water feature in the front walkway, and an attached, two-car garage.

This home was listed April 3 by Nancy Johnson with Dave Perry-Miller and Associates Real Estate for $1,199,500.

As featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine, the Winnetka Heights Foursquare at 214 S. Windomere Ave. captures the charms of this historic North Oak Cliff neighborhood. This home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and 2,120 square feet on two stories, built in 1927. The roof and foundation were updated this yer.

With a wide wrap-around front porch and professional landscaping, this Foursquare is warm and welcoming. This well maintained home offers hardwood floors throughout and walls of windows. An updated kitchen and large dining are perfect for entertaining and a rare two-car garage offers a large living space above that would make a perfect mother-in-law suite or home office (its square footage is not included in the  DCAD square footage mentioned above).

This home was listed April 4 by Crystal Gonzalez with David Griffin and Co. for $575,000.

Lovely curb appeal includes landscaping, painted brick, updated low-E windows, a front porch, and custom front door with sidelight. It opens to the entry hall and first living room with refinished hardwood floors, a picture window, and inviting dining room.
