Keep an eye out for our top features from the archives as we rest and get ready for a brilliant 2019! Cheers, from Candy and the entire staff at Daltxrealestate.com!]

Karen: One of my favorite posts from 2018 is this Kessler Woods contemporary. Not much more lights my fire than when I score a combo platter of historic inspiration, a cool neighborhood and excellent architecture. This Inwood Home of the Week was inspired by the Case Study House Program in Los Angeles, and there is nothing like it anywhere in Dallas.

Kessler Woods is one of those neighborhoods that makes your heart beat just a little faster. A gated community of modern homes set into a hillside, right next to a nature preserve is not what you expect to find in Dallas. And we seldom expect to find homes like this one at 715 Kessler Woods Trail for sale, so you are in luck! Our Inwood Home of the Week is a Kessler Woods contemporary that is an architectural dream.

Builder Matt Holley and architect Doug Hildinger  were inspired by the legendary Case Study Houses in Los Angeles that were built between 1945 and 1965. The Case Study House Program was sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine. The editors and a myriad of up-and-coming young architects that were fixtures at the magazine realized there was a need to address affordable housing for all of the soldiers returning from World War II. The magazine commissioned notable architects to build efficient, two-bedroom, two-bathroom model homes. There were 36 original designs created by architects like Richard Neutra, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Pier Koenig. The popularity of these homes exceeded all expectations and ushered in the modern era of residential design.

“It’s a phenomenal home,” listing agent Steve Obenshain with RE/MAX said. “There is not another one like it in Dallas. A unique feature of this Kessler Woods contemporary house is the distinctive exterior maple wood detail. It was done in an ancient Japanese technique called Shou Sugi Ban.This is a process used to preserve the wood by charring it with fire.”

The layout is exceptional for entertaining. The first floor flows unimpeded from one area to the next with the gourmet kitchen located right in the midst of the action. Large sliding glass doors open to the yard downstairs and upstairs to balconies and an enormous wrap-around deck.715-Kessler-Woods-Trl-22

One of my favorite features is the layout of the third bedroom. It is separated from the main house with a bath and study, so very much like private quarters.

“It’s a great Kessler Woods contemporary,” Obenshain said. “Its built with exceptional materials, and beautifully designed.”

At only $925,000, this is the way to begin one happy New Year for a lucky buyer!
