[Editor’s Note: While the Daltxrealestate.com team takes a hot minute this holiday season to recharge the ol’ Energizers, we’re serving up our very favorite stories from 2021. Enjoy!]

Joanna: On Fridays, I typically serve up a listing that falls somewhere between $400K and $599K and anywhere in the region. However, sometimes I get a little sentimental and have to write about a home that holds some memories for me. This house was one of those homes. If you’ve ever driven through a neighborhood and caught yourself calling a home “Soandso’s old house,” then this story about a beautifully redone Lochwood Midcentury will give you the warm fuzzies.

When describing neighborhoods to out-of-towners, there’s an entire lexicon of descriptors that Realtors employ. Lakewood would be considered “established.” Munger Place would be touted as “historic.” And Lochwood is a neighborhood that has begun to find its way into the category of “sought after.”

What’s so great about Lochwood, you ask? Part of it is how the hilly and winding streets are lined with tall, magical trees — complete with a creek meandering through the neighborhood — that makes the whole area feel both familiar and exciting at once. And then there are the people, who are often gracious and kind and welcoming.

So, when a family lives in this East Dallas enclave for a while, they never really leave. Like, when you drive by their house even after they’ve moved elsewhere, it will always be “Soandso’s old house.” And that’s exactly what makes this particular Lochwood listing so bittersweet. The sellers are well-known and much-beloved, and their departure will be mourned.

But again, this is one of those homes that is so irresistible that it is almost certain to attract wonderful new neighbors that will treasure this recently redone modern that does a splendid job of bringing those captivating, arboreal views indoors.

Compass Real Estate listing agent Jennifer Riley Rice says that this home is minimalist and functional with gorgeous timber floors throughout, as well as stunning oak cabinets, soapstone countertops, and those large “picturesque” windows.

Built in 1967, the home got a complete makeover that was just finished. Like, the sellers just moved back in. Basically, you’re getting a brand-new four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a second-story living area that is perfect for working from home. It’s the perfect size for a family with 2,303 square feet.

But what I love most about this home is that, even though the sellers are moving away, we’ll still have a little reminder of what awesome people they are as we drive through the neighborhood and spot this fantastic home. Note to the buyers: You have some big shoes to fill!

Rice has listed 11909 Brookmeadow Lane for $625,000. This stunner just went on the market, but if you want to tour it while you can, the open house is Saturday, May 22, from 1 to 3 p.m.
