Behind the Pink Wall: Make This Double Unit at Preston Tower Your Own

This week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans, is a rare double unit in the lauded Preston Tower with spectacular downtown views courtesy of wall-to-wall windows and three balconies. That’s why buyers choose high-rise life here behind the pink wall.

When Preston Tower was originally built in 1966, it was one of the first high-rise condo towers in Dallas. That was way back when this area of Preston Hollow was considered the suburbs. Now, it’s very centrally located, just north of University Park and a stone’s throw from some of Dallas’ best shopping and restaurants.

Listing agent Nancy Martinez of David Griffin and Company Realtors says two units were combined to create fully integrated space, designed by well-known Dallas architect and interior designer, Dan Lee, AIA, ASID.

“It combines a clean aesthetic with classical design,” Martinez says.

The result is a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half home with 2,258 square feet of fully integrated space.

“The pecan floors are stunning, but especially stellar features are the butlers pantry with sink and wine refrigerator, and a walk-in utility closet/pantry with full size washer and dryer. That’s not often seen in high-rise condos.”

Those are 3-inch plank pecan floors Nancy mentions, which show off beautifully in the wide walkways and living spaces in the home. The sizable butler’s pantry is no doubt a clever space merged from the two units and provide helpful storage for that haul from Costco. Asko washer and dryer stay with the unit in the separate utility.

The open kitchen features a soapstone breakfast bar with Subzero and Thermador appliances and custom soft-close cabinets. It’s a nice open space but not large for entertaining. Unlike most parties that congregate in the kitchen, here your guests will be drawn to the oversized balcony or the spacious living room inside.

The primary bedroom is huge and has an en suite bath with large walk-in shower with bench. Nancy explains that one bedroom is located off kitchen. ”The latter accessed by its own hallway door,” she says. All three bedrooms have en suite baths.

Perks of the building include three deeded parking spaces, tennis court with pickle ball lines, pool, fitness center, and resident only dog park. Tower dogs only here.

Like nearly all high-rise buildings, Preston Tower has an active homeowners’ association. HOA fees, which run $2,032, includes all utilities such as water, electricity, and gas plus Internet and Wi-Fi.

“It’s rare to find three bedrooms plus a study at anything but stratospheric price points,” Nancy says. Never truer words spoken.
