Creating your checklistsThe WeddingChallengesHow to overcome these challengesThe Venue:The Home:Conclusion

Weddings require a lot of planning and checklists that need to be created in order for your big day to take place without any troubles or hiccups.

The three biggest areas of concern are the event itself, your post-wedding homestead, and the logistics between the two. Having a checklist in place helps you prepare for these three concerns and handle any unexpected challenges.

Out of these concerns, your wedding venue and your new home need to be identified early on in the planning process, as these locations are where most of the magic happens before, during, and after the wedding. Having them sorted out early on can significantly alleviate your stress levels, especially closer to the wedding date itself.

Creating your checklists

There are several options you can use to create your checklist, depending on your needs.

• If you enjoy working with pen and paper, you can use a wedding planner file or a journal to help keep your checklist organized. There are plenty of printable templates that you can use to make your checklists easier to manage.

• There are wedding and planning apps that can help make the process smoother. You can also synchronize these apps with other software and your calendar to help you stay on top of all the minor details.

• If you prefer not to use an app, digital spreadsheets like Excel can help you accurately track your tasks and planning.

The Wedding

The wedding itself is the main event and will be central to all the items on your checklist.

Challenges

Some challenges you may face include sticking to your budget is strictly kept to, ensuring everyone is aware of their unique roles, coordinating with vendors, creating contingency plans, maintaining your health, and adhering to your timeline.

How to overcome these challenges

Considering that you have a large volume of tasks to deal with, you need to create a checklist that comprises all the minor details that are related to the wedding

• Budget Planning: This is for your overall wedding planning, and will include venue, rental or purchases made, decor, catering, and other hidden costs. It is important that you are able to track your expenses to avoid overspending on frivolous items.

• Guest List: A finalized guest list is integral to multiple aspects of the wedding. This includes venue planning, accommodation, transportation, food, gifts, seating arrangements, photography, entertainment, and many more items.

• Theme and Style: You need to ensure that food, decor, and attire are all aligned with the theme, style, and color scheme that you have laid out for your special day.

• Timeline: Creating a timeline and using it in tandem with your checklist can help your planning go smoothly. With a timeline, you will know exactly when you need to make bookings for events and vendors by, when to schedule testing appointments, and finalize payments.

• Beauty-related Appointments: You will have multiple appointments strewn across the planning period. A checklist and timeline can help you ensure that you are punctual, especially if you have to travel all the way out to, say, Beverly Hills for an Invisalign appointment or to Houston for a microneedling procedure with a specialist. Correct scheduling allows you to make time for traveling and sufficient healing before the wedding day.

The Venue:

It doesn’t matter if your wedding is big or small, you will need to ensure that there is enough space to accommodate your guests for both the ceremony and reception. This means making sure that there is enough room for seating, networking, dining, and entertainment.

• In addition to logistics, you may need to secure legal permits depending on your wedding location. For scenic options, venues like the RV Resort through Breezit offer beautiful vineyard and mountain views that create a picturesque backdrop while simplifying your location planning.

• Plan transportation for guests, especially for destination weddings, and coordinate delivery times with vendors, ensuring someone is available to receive and set up items.

• Have a planner or coordinator present on the wedding day to ensure all setup runs smoothly according to your checklist and plans.

• For out-of-town weddings, secure adequate accommodations for guests near the venue and arrange getting-ready spaces for the wedding party.

The Home:

Often, the bridal couple will move in together following the wedding, to ensure that the transition is seamless and stress-free, you will need a checklist for this too.

• Try to ensure that the home is ready beforehand, and try transporting items to the home and setting them up beforehand.

• If you move immediately after the ceremony, arrange for the guests’ gifts and other wedding items, like decor and supplies, to be delivered to your home. This can make your living space feel overwhelming.

• Sorting out items into pieces that you can return or need to be moved into storage is a necessity to free up living space.

• When couples move in together, there is a need to blend their belongings and style. This means merging furniture, decor, and personal items. This can lead to disagreements; the best step forward is to make a compromise on what can be kept and what must go.  Decide on what gets prioritized in a shared space and who has more say in certain areas.

• This can be emotional for both partners; kindness and open communication need to be prioritized.

Conclusion

When planning for an event as large as a wedding, being armed with checklists and aligning them with the planning timeline  is an important part of ensuring your big day takes place with minimal trouble. Ideally, you want to have a checklist for each important aspect of your wedding, meaning one each for the wedding itself, for the wedding venue, and the home you and your partner are going to live in. Starting off as early as possible will ensure that you stay organized and minimize any stress that you may experience closer to the wedding day.
