When it first opened in the year 2000, 1999 McKinney was a fixture in the papers. The late, beloved Alan Peppard often wrote for the Dallas Morning News about the fete set charity events held in the luxury high-rise located at McKinney Avenue and N. Harwood Street. The lofts’ towering ceilings and stunning views of Downtown Dallas served as the glamorous backdrop for DIFFA Dallas, The Family Place, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer, and many more worthy causes’ fundraisers. It’s hard to tell which was more intoxicating, the free-flowing Champagne or the twinkling skyline of Big D.

But things have quieted down since the tipsy toes of Millenium revelers have traipsed across the ground floor lobby at 1999 McKinney Condominium Lofts. Outside, a unique stairstep of muted pink brick. Inside, lofts with exposed concrete ceilings and selected exposed structural columns that are more Turtle Creek luxury high-rise than Deep Ellum indiscriminate exposed plumbing. That’s why this week’s featured home sponsored by Dallas mortgage expert Lisa Peters takes us to Lori Ericsson of David Griffin and Company Realtors‘ listing at 1999 McKinney Ave., No. 1206, where you’ll find all the best of Uptown and Downtown combined.

This 12th-floor home has 2,407 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths, set over two stories. The main floor is a combination open-concept living, dining, and kitchen with one bed/bath up and one down. Here, built-in bookshelves offer a contemporary touch. Of course, the focal point of the living areas are the gigantic double-height windows connecting you with panoramic views of the Dallas skyline.

The kitchen is tastefully finished with marble countertops, stainless steel appliances including a gas cooktop vented to the exterior, maple cabinetry, and an ample prep island with casual bar seating. Many recent improvements include white oak hardwood floors with ebony finish, fresh paint throughout, and smart Nest thermostats.

Up on the second floor, there’s an open office loft that retreats to the primary bedroom and bath.

This home is practically a blank canvas. Now, I don’t want to just publish photos of other people’s homes that have been on the market, but just Google “1999 McKinney” and you’ll see what a warm paint job can do to soften this chic loft.

The HOA fees are $1,794 per month and include amenities such as controlled access parking with two deeded parking spaces per home, a heated saltwater pool, spa, and fire pit on the fourth floor, a gym, and a concierge.

Ericsson says this unit has one of the best floorplans because it has both a spacious open patio off the living room to watch the bright lights big city and an additional private patio off the second-floor primary bedroom for quiet evenings or having your morning coffee.

The building is located in Dallas’ walkable Uptown neighborhood near Dallas’ American Airlines Center, Klyde Warren Park, the Ritz-Carlton, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
