The home on Quarter Oak Ranch – wait til you see the horse stalls (photos: Norman & Young)

I’m the first to admit that I don’t know much about horses.  While I’m sure there is a bowtie-wearing cowboy out there somewhere, it’s not this bowtie Realtor.

However, when I heard about the Quarter Oak Ranch in Gainesville, Texas, I had to tell you about it.  Yes, yes, Cooke County is not quite within the boundaries of Tarrant County, but allow me some creative license.

87 acres, 2 ponds, 1 heated pool, 5,800 ft. home, 64 horse stalls…quite a ranch!

The Quarter Oak Ranch

Gainesville is approximately an hour and a half from Fort Worth.  This Texas town of around 16,000 residents is known by many as being located in the heart of the Texas horse country.

Why is that?  It is conveniently located midway between two large destinations for horse shows and events (Fort Worth and Oklahoma City) and that the sandy loam soil is very friendly to horsey feet … we call those hooves in the horse biz.

The 87-acre estate that makes up the Quarter Oak Ranch is found at the end of a private road and yet five to ten minutes from “downtown” Gainesville and Interstate 35.

The home on the ranch is a five bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom home with spectacular views and a heated pool and spa.

Can you imagine 44 horses under one roof? It’s possible in the new barn at Quarter Oak Ranch.

The real prize of the ranch is the 44-stall show barn and covered arena on the property that was built in 2018.

Horses Never Had it so Good

Talk about living the good life.  Horses at Quarter Oak Ranch are spoiled not only with the new 44-stall barn and show arena, but they also have access to fenced paddocks to roam and train.  Each stall is built with a stall mat and a Nelson Auto-Waterers.

Horses don’t drink out of dirty troughs, they have climate-controlled watering systems that deliver tasty agua right to them.

Horses can shower in style at Quarter Oak Ranch.

All of the barns (there are three in total and 64 stalls) are built on slab foundations, which makes the surface smooth and flat.  The Quarter Oak Ranch is truly the best environment for performance horses to live, train, and recover.

All About Dirt

Dirt is dirt right?  Wrong!  When building a large show arena for horses, dirt is of the utmost importance.  Footing for horses, whether reining or cutting, can make the difference in a lousy performance and an award-winning performance. And that means big bucks!

God made dirt and not all dirt is the same

Bob Kiser of Kiser Arena Specialists is regarded as the top expert on design and construction of these structures.  Bob personally was used as a consultant on this project.  Over $50,000 of dirt was brought in to make this arena the best around.
