This Preston Tower Condo Got a Designer Makeover And Now It’s For Sale

If you’re a mall rat like me, you’ve been to NorthPark Centre many, many, many times. Maybe too many.

Nope, not possible.

Anyway, NorthPark Centre is on Northwest Highway and what’s right down the road? Preston Tower Condominium, a super cool condo building I passed all the time. Again, if you’re like me, it’s always caught your eye. Out front, there’s a big, well-known, “Birds in Flight” sculpture. Right behind it, there’s a wavy gravy type concrete awning covering the drive-up. The curves of the awning mimic the gentle curve of the entire building.

Striking? You bet it is.

When Preston Tower was originally built in 1966, it was one of the first high-rise condo towers in Dallas. That was way back when this area of Preston Hollow was considered the suburbs. Now, it’s very centrally located, just north of University Park.

They call it midcentury, and if you want to get into with a midcentury purist, I’m not sure 1966 fully qualifies, but the design details are very midcentury.

On highrises.com, they encourage you to “bring your creativity, many of the units could use updating.” Lucky for you, that doesn’t include today’s featured condo, Unit 2600.

In fact, it’s owned by a designer who updated the space for herself. She did it all thinking this was her forever retirement home, too, so no detail was left untouched. Since she also owns Unit 2602, the original plans were to knock down the wall and make it one big mega unit. Just so you know, 2602 is for sale, too, so that’s still very much on the table.

Inside, the designer touches are top-notch. Lots of era-appropriate Lucite chandeliers and light fixtures, gorgeous wood flooring, granite countertops in the kitchen with a stainless steel backsplash and open shelving plus a pantry. The built-in bookcase with a desk is the perfect place to take a Zoom, get your head in the game for the day or write the next great American novel.

One more thing to love about this condo? Generous balconies where you could host friends for the evening, all while checking out the killer views. On-site there’s a pool, a library, and a concierge. It’s a real lock-and-leave situation if you want to jet set around the globe.

Oh, and what’s that right across the street? All the dream restaurants you can handle. It’s Preston Center, y’all. Talk to me about that True Kitchen.
