Mitchell Historic Lofts building in Exposition Park

We don’t showcase enough loft properties here on daltxrealestate.com, which is sad because Dallas has some incredible loft apartments in some of its most popular close-in neighborhoods. Thankfully Chase Heckendorn of The Urban Avenue has some wonderful properties to share, including this fantastic historic loft in the John E. Mitchell Building.

Unit 317 in the Mitchell Lofts building at 3800 Commerce Street is a fantastic space with more than 1,800 square feet and views of downtown and Fair Park. It leases for $2,140 a month and includes access to the building’s many amenities, including a pool, landscaped courtyard, coffee bar, dog run, and a rooftop deck that is currently being updated and refurbished. Bonus: a brand spanking new 24-hour fitness center is going in! This particular unit, on the building’s top floor, with be available on June 23.

Check out the hardwood floors, timber ceilings, double-sided fireplace, and super-cool kitchen. The windows are so cool and industrial! Love the lighting and the open feel. Super sexy! This unit also has a fabulous bath with a garden tub and dual sinks.

Here’s the dish on this property and the burgeoning urban neighborhood directly from Heckendorn:

“The Mitchell Lofts building is located in the Exposition Park neighborhood. This area covers eight city blocks, nestled between Deep Ellum and the entrance to Fair Park.  Although many people are unaware of this neighborhood, most Dallasites have undoubtedly taken a stroll through the area during the State Fair of Texas.

Besides a handful of restaurants and bars, such as Craft & Growler and The Meridian Room, Expo Park consists mainly of mixed-use loft space. Behind the unsuspecting walls of these historic buildings, you will find some of the most unique live/work space in Dallas. This area attracts everything from tech companies & architecture firms to art galleries & photography studios.

Mitchell Lofts is a three-story warehouse building that was originally constructed for the John E. Mitchell Company, which was founded in 1900. Over the years, the Mitchell building manufactured everything from ICEE soft drink machines to artillery shells and missiles for the US Navy. In 1999 the building was renovated into 79 residential lofts.

Although Mitchell is home to mostly residential tenants, you will still find quite a few residents who use their space as a personal art studio or home office. Still a part of Deep Ellum, Expo Park is removed from the busy nightlife atmosphere, but is just close enough to enjoy everything the neighborhood has to offer.”

If you’re looking to ditch your car, this is a great neighborhood, too, considering that it has some of the few shared bike lanes in Dallas and has two DART stations, including the one just outside Fair Park. And you get to ogle at all the gorgeous architecture all around you while you walk through Deep Ellum and Fair Park. And the views, guys!
