East Dallas Custom Located in The Heart of Fourth Festivities

The funky counterpart of larger and grander Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills, is one of my favorite neighborhoods in East Dallas. Why? Because besides amazing location, this neighborhood has natural beauty and personality.

First, Little Forest Hills has the absolute CUTEST Fourth of July parade, which attracts bicycles and strollers with streamers and flags, plus the many Radio Flyer wagons with pups astride. Plus, this neighborhood is within bicycling distance of East Dallas’ worst-kept secret: The Dallas Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3108 pool. And finally, both neighborhoods feed into Dallas ISD’s Alex Sanger Preparatory, which earned several distinctions.

So it’s no surprise that these two East Dallas enclaves have experienced growing popularity in the past decade, with more an more people paying top dollar for lots and custom builders. Though, this beautiful Tudor was built just six years ago, there are homes built more than 70 years back still standing. But what if you could have a new build without all of the effort? That’s what our Inwood National Bank Home of the Week offers.

“This quality craftsman Tudor home was built in 2013 by the current owner,” said listing agent Jenny Capritta of RE/MAX DFW Associates.  “All new quality custom homes start with the foundation. This engineer-designed slab was created for maximum stability by drilling 47 piers to shale — some 20 to 30 feet.”

Sturdy stone and brick, with hand-scraped hardwood floors and copious windows throughout, define this Tudor. Interiors are like new, and feel intimate and personal without feeling too cozy.

“The charming façade features CBC Cromwell brick with Grandbury stone accents, General Aluminum windows, and a distressed Ash entry door,” Capritta noted. “Once inside, one will admire the architectural elements of archways, hand trolled textured walls, a wrought iron staircase, a Grandbury stone wood-burning fireplace, richly stained hardwood floors, and a splendid selection of period fixtures.”

Capritta says buyers will be impressed by this four-bedroom, three-bath Tudor’s location and price tag.

“Homes of this quality and size — this one at 3,914 square feet — are in excess of $1 million in neighboring Forest Hills,” Capritta says of 2020 Lakeland Dr. “This home located in Little Forest Hills gives you a more manageable lot size and a huge saving that gives families a much-needed break.”
