Preston Trails Estate is Right Up Your Fairway

Talking to Steven Rosenthal, who hangs his hat at Allie Beth Allman, is always a treat. It’s evident that he loves being a Realtor and he’s over the moon about 6009 Pompton Court, his latest listing.

“It’s the most amazing home you would ever want to see,” Rosenthal told me recently. I think that’s actually putting it mildly.

Built in 2001, this five-bedroom, eight-bathroom (yes, eight), 15,253-square-foot home in Preston Trails hit the market last week. It’s so close to Preston Trail Golf Club you could grab your driver, hit a ball across the street and probably sink it. Golfers, take note: This home is right up your fairway.GetMedia-1-1024x768Clever design, smart technology, great reinvention of space and a kitchen with every bell and whistle you could want are all part of this gorgeous $3.25 million package of glamor that is our Inwood House of the Week.

You know you’re in for a treat just driving up to this estate. The entrance is fit for royalty, with an arched front door of heavily leaded windows opening onto pristine travertine flooring. A statement chandelier hangs overhead, and a repeat of leaded glass, in both an overhead arch and pocket doors into the formal living room, (which, by the way, has enough space for the most ardent bibliophile) are well, wowzer!

Immediately to the right of the entry is the home office, and I really think I should put that in quotation marks because it’s not what normally comes to mind you see those words. Gorgeous woodwork, eye-catching crystal sconces on either side of the fireplace, arched windows overlooking immaculate landscaping, and those floors — it’s perfection.

Let’s get down to brass tacks. We all want a knockout place to cook, and most of all, to eat. This chef’s kitchen takes the proverbial cake. The countertops go on forever and that island is enormous. Seriously, enormous. The kitchen is part of an open-plan family living area, anchored by a magnificent stone fireplace with, wait for it, not one, not two, but four plasma screens mounted in pairs on either side. Think about this. You make everyone happy, four screens! Now of course, this vast area overlooks the fantastic backyard paradise. More about that later.

GetMedia-6-1024x768Let’s talk closets. No one does closets better than Dallas, and this house is a testament to that fact. Separate closets for the lady and the gentleman of the house are a necessity, and these are spectacular, with gorgeous woodwork, brass embellishments and I’m pretty sure “her” closet has room for a pony. “Her” closet is a two-story affair, so no schlepping the fall clothing to a storage room, just pop up a flight of stairs when the temperatures change from summer to winter overnight, in our typical crazy Dallas weather.

This house has possibly the most beautiful exercise room in the Metroplex. More leaded glass windows shine light throughout the room, bouncing off floor-to-ceiling mirrors that are perfect for bellying up to the barre.

Did someone say party? This house was built for a party. Many parties. There is not a doubt about that. The flow is flawless for entertaining and there’s a 6,000-bottle wine room that would make the entire Napa Valley swoon. Oh, and there’s an elevator to the wine room so you can nip up there and back in a flash. Don’t be distracted by the state-of-the-art safe room, although if you have the right rare vintage in hand it’s a great place to make sure you only share it with someone who has a true appreciation for the finer things in life.

So mom and dad are taken care of with rocking closets, a gourmet kitchen, and that wine room, but what about the kids?

“It’s Disney World for the kids,” Rosenthal said. The present owners took the seven-car garage and converted it into a playroom like nothing you’ve ever seen. It’s a completely climate-controlled, light filled, travertine-floored, (spills are not a problem here) paradise for children. This is also a perfect ballroom space if you want to clear the kids out for a night, and of course can easily be converted back to a garage, but really, why would you do that?

Don’t worry about your autos, there’s an abundance of porte-cochere parking for owners and guests. Speaking of guests, there’s a two-bedroom guest house. Remember that backyard paradise I mentioned?  The patios have a heating system and the pool has a swim-up bar.

I’m so there.
