Home Sweet Highland Park Bright Lights, Big City Pretty in Plano

It’s important to fulfill our duties in bringing readers high-end house porn in addition to the latest news in building trends, design, and architecture — but we recognize not everyone is in the market for a $7 million Highland Park castle.

We’ve got a mix this week of great homes ranging from a reasonable $425,000 in Plano ISD to a mid-$700s downtown townhome to — you guessed it — a $7 million Highland Park castle.

Here are our picks for this edition of Candy’s Dirt Open Houses of the Week.

Home Sweet Highland Park

It’s hard to pick just a few selling points with this classic Tudor estate at 4209 Arcady Ave., nestled in the French streets of Highland Park.

Rebuilt and expanded in 2016 by Travis + Travis Custom Builders, Cy Barcus Jr., and landscape designer Robert Bellamy, the home has four bedrooms and six and one-half baths across more than 5,000 square feet.

Local designer Cindy Nash Hughes elevated the interiors to a magazine-worthy showcase with a sleek, modern aesthetic.

The white kitchen boasts commercial-grade appliances and solid wood inset cabinetry.

A spacious upstairs primary bedroom includes a sitting area, cast stone fireplace, spa-like bath, and custom closet.

Outside is a beautifully landscaped backyard with a pool, waterfall, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, and guest quarters with a full bathroom. The home is zoned for Highland Park ISD, which just received an A rating from the Texas Education Agency.

Realtor Missy Kennedy with Allie Beth Allman & Associates is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Bright Lights, Big City

Head downtown for a stunning view of the Dallas skyline from one of two rooftop terraces at 2167 Marilla St.

The luxury four-level townhome is listed at $749,000 and represents urban living in Dallas’s Farmers Market District. It’s a short walk to ATT Discovery Park, East Quarter restaurants, and Deep Ellum.

Featuring three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a two-car garage ready for electric vehicles, this home has a ton of special features. With wood flooring, built-in speakers, and custom window shutters, it’s a great spot for out-of-town guests to visit and enjoy all the surrounding entertainment, shopping, and dining venues.

The north-facing terrace has its own sink and mini fridge, and there’s a community pool and neighborhood parks for the kids.

Realtor Tony Nuncio with Paragon Realtors is hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

Pretty in Plano

A slightly more affordable price point is offered in the Parkway Village neighborhood at 4360 Capistrano Drive.

The home close to Dallas North Tollway features three bedrooms, two and one-half bathrooms, two living areas, and a two-car garage.

Updates include new windows, wood flooring, and a new roof. The kitchen has white cabinets, granite countertops, and a tile backsplash.

Access to a pool, fitness center, tennis courts, and front yard lawn maintenance ensures the new owners will have all the amenities. Kids can retreat to the game room, while the grown-ups enjoy a family room with a warming fireplace and wet bar.

The home is zoned for B-rated Plano ISD and listed at $425,000.

Realtor Judi Wright with Ebby Halliday Frisco is hosting an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
