We asked Mark: What was the defining element was that made this home find a loving family? How did you find the buyers? What, if anything, would you have done differently to market and sell this property?

We know you have stopped and stared every time your eyes gazed 4001 Turtle Creek Boulevard, the blue-tiled roof home that has been declared “Most Beautiful Home” by virtually every home design rag in town.

Truly, it is.

I wrote about the home when Mark Godson of Compass first listed it. I will never forget the first time I walked back in 2012: pure awe and admiration for a modern remodel that kept total respect for the 1936 construction.

Homes of that era are such treasures. As Christopher Wynn wrote:

“Crisp white stucco walls rise to meet a crown of aqua tiles. A lion’s head fountain once again splashes in the front courtyard’s reflecting pool. Gleaming windows reveal peek-a-boo views inside a white lacquer wonderland inhabited by leggy chairs and modern art. This place stops traffic.”

But it was our Karen Eubank who wrote the tome this home deserved last July, digging deeply into the history and past owners, yielding one of our most highly read features ever.

It worked: the listing agent and personal friend to the owners, Greg and Susan Baten, sold the home to a dashing, young, local couple that is very successful (they paid cash), who plan to move in and turn the home into their personal Parisian boutique hotel for visiting friends.

“They have homes all over, but this will be their very own French Riviera- inspired Dallas crash pad,” says Mark, who represented both buyer and seller.

And we will have more to report soon on the Batens’ next project: Another breathtaking beauty on Turtle Creek.

Originally listed for $3.797 million, the price was lowered to $3.6 and sold for upwards of $3.4.

We asked Mark: What was the defining element was that made this home find a loving family?

Mark Godson: I think it was a special home that needed the right buyer .. the buyers appreciated the charm and the feel of being in Europe, certainly not in Dallas.

How did you find the buyers?

Mark: They had admired the home and reached out to me, came in and said yes, this is it, after one showing.

What, if anything, would you have done differently to market and sell this property?

Mark: I really think it was waiting for the right person. I think all the Daltxrealestate.com publicity definitely helped. I always say the right buyer is out there, and I was lucky enough to find them myself !
