A Dallas Cowboy’s Dream Home is a Buyer’s Touchdown at The Landing

Oh if only I could tell you that this house is on the market because the seller, former Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame inductee and defensive tackle Tony Casillas, is moving to the Star in Frisco where he will plant himself as a consigliere reserve for America’s team.

Casillas, a Tulsa native, could sure lend a hand: he won the Lombardi Award in 1985 and was the 1985 UPI Lineman of the Year. He was absolutely integral in The Cowboys’ back-to-back victories in two Super Bowls — Super Bowl XXVII and XXVIII, both against the Buffalo Bills.

In 2004, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. So yeah, his coaching skills (and his feedback) would have come in mighty handy last Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

I cannot tell you that, but I can say that the Casillas are selling their most extraordinary home in one of the most exclusive Flower Mound communities kissing Lake Grapevine, complete with pool, spa, sport court, trees, double acreage, and a beautiful path to the lake.

Even better: it can be yours for just under $2 million.

The home at 6201 Bay Valley Court beckoned their hearts 26 years ago when Tony and Tamara first found it. Custom built for a local executive by Coppell-based Holmes Builders, they were the very first to live in the house snagging it when the first owner transferred. They bought 5,590 square feet on a lush two acres that also boasts unobstructed hiking and views of Lake Grapevine. The home has a magnificent, majestic setback on a stunning cul-de-sac nestled in the Landing, a private, gated Flower Mound community.

“What I love is that this home is so very private, a true respite,” says listing agent Patty Sheets with the Sheets Realty Group at Coldwell Banker. “Drive into those gates and everything rolls away as you enter your very own at-home resort: pool, spa, pickle ball, sports courts. Yet you are only 15 minutes from DFW.”

The location and the lot, says Sheets, are simply primo, in an already-exclusive community.

The Tudor-style home is steeped in understated elegance. Walk into the museum-finished white wall foyer flanked by the wood-beamed family room and breakfast nook, creating that perfect space for both intimate family gatherings and lavish entertaining. Beautiful hand-scraped hardwoods lead the way from the light foyer.

The home has all formals, a kitchen, and a family room on the first floor. There is also one formal study with French doors leading to the patio and the option for a second home office off the first-floor utility room. This room could also be adapted to a video studio, exercise studio, or secondary home office. With five bedrooms and four plus one-half baths, the huge master is downstairs with a large spa bath, walk-in shower, massive closets, and direct access to the grounds.

The backyard is a green sanctuary spanning across those two luscious acres, including the sparkling pool and spa, a covered patio primed for screening, and a fenced sport court camouflaged by trees, like a treasure in the woods.

Four airy bedrooms are located on the second level, which also sports a media room, loft, large landing, and more flex/storage space.

“Playing on that court, you think you are in Hawaii,” says Sheets.” One of the biggest benefits of purchasing a resale home today is the lush landscaping grounds: mature landscaping and a near thicket of trees that have grown in from when they were first planted by the Casillas.”

There is also direct proximity and a path to Lake Grapevine: close but far enough to keep lake-loving mosquitoes and creatures at bay.

The home at 6201 Bay Valley Court is in the Lewisville Independent School District; private schools are within driving distance, such as the venerable Coram Deo Academy.

Not sure we know where Tony Casillas is moving, but we sure know where he is coming from: an elegantly beautiful home ready to cradle another generation of winners.

Patty Sheets has listed 6201 Bay Valley Court for $1.9 million.
